Uprisingstuck

(Author's Note: Since 2U and 3U are not completed, I cannot say with any certainty that this will completely agree with the Uprising canon, but whatever. This is exactly what it says on the tin, and I hope to god I can write this well. If you have any issues or qualms with how I write you or anybody else, please TELL ME. I want this to be at least close to realistic, and it'll be a good exercise in writing multiple characters.)

Re: Uprisingstuck

A young man stands in a dark room. The only light comes from a computer screen, where his friend is frantically typing.

Spoiler:
Anything?
I dunno, man.
There has to be SOMETHING.
Shit like this doesn't come out of thin air, you know?

I know, but anybody who WOULD know isn't around
And nobody else has any clue where it came from, either.
This is a bit freaky

Indeed
...
What do you think?
About what?
About... All this shit.
I dunno, man.
I just dunno.

Think this is the real deal?
Shit, I hope not.
Like, what would we do?

You don't have a plan?
...
Come on, this is second to the zombie apocalypse in regards to sheer number of potential plans.
You've got to have something.

What about you?
Huh?
Do YOU have a plan?
If this is real, I mean.

Of course I have a plan.
I have plans for everything.

Well, what's your plan?
First, we're going to need some partners.
If you can get
Rando and Darian down here, I can handle the rest.
You're serious about this?
Yeah, why not?
Beats dying, doesn't it?

Re: Uprisingstuck

Two floors above, another young man sits on a couch, aimlessly watching the news. Today they had some parents on the set who were talking about a daughter that had gone missing. Moving stuff, but it pushed aside time that was going to be spent talking about the recent Oscar nominations. The young man finds this unacceptable, as he wanted to know what the mainstream media thought of that debacle.

Eventually he gives up and flips through the channels, landing on a semi-interesting piece about a meteor that landed in Shanghai. They had just gotten to the composition of the rock when the young man heard the tell-tale stomps of someone ascending the staircase and running down the hallway. He thought nothing of it until the footsteps began sounding back towards him.

He turned towards the doorway and caught sight of
Tod almost dragging Dawn back towards the staircase.

Spoiler:
Huh
I wonder what's got them in such a hurry.

Re: Uprisingstuck

Yet another man runs up the stairs of the mansion, his hat barely keeping on and his scarf flailing in his ascent. He skids to a stop just outside an open door, wherein his friend is busy listlessly flipping through channels.

Spoiler:
Xicon!
Huh?
Oh, hey
Azog.
What’s up?

Come on, we need to do something
Why?
The Homestucks are planning something right now
And
Nick and Morbid and Karia have left the mansion
And I’ll be damned if I let the Homestucks lead an uprising!

Yes, because we have a monopoly on doing that.
Stop flipping the damned channels!
I’m being serious here!

Okay then, tell me, what are they planning?
How should I know?
They’ve been in the basement for almost a half an hour now
And there’s only so much I can wring out of
Nick’s puppets.
Okay, okay, fine.
What do you suggest we do?

Go to the attic, and get whatever you can from the lab.
I made some toys for this kind of time.

Re: Uprisingstuck

The door to the basement stood large and imposing as always. This young man never understood why it was made this way, as there were many ways into the basement, so making this one entrance so impressive seemed a waste. In addition, he didn’t quite know why they were going in through this route. His friend said something about “making the proper entrance” but he was too busy wondering how safe these new “toys” were. They looked like normal paintball guns, but knowing Azog, they could be anything. The young man tried not to think of this as they breached the doors and plunged down into the darkness.

Spoiler:
AH HA!
FREEZE!

We must have missed them.
No shit.
Well then, let’s investigate.
They’ve got to have something here.
Something that will lead us to their true purpose.
Something subtle and damning and-

They left their computer on.
Oh.
Well, what’s on it?

I… don’t know.
Looks to be a program of some sort, but this isn’t a code I’m familiar with.

More Homestuck stuff, I guess.
Can you copy it onto a flash drive, or something?

Yeah, sure
Just give me a sec.

Awesome.
Then I guess the next step is to decode this thing.
Then we’ll know what they’re planning!

Re: Uprisingstuck

A woman stands in the corner of a dark basement, listening in on a conversation, but saying little. She was called in to participate, but she simply can’t think of what they’d want with her here.

Spoiler:
So, what do you people think of Rando third, and then Dawn fifth?
I don’t know…
Wouldn’t it fit the canon better if they were flipped?
Why?
You know, boy-girl-boy-girl?
Oh, maybe you’ve got a point there.
Excuse me.
Why am I here again?

Because you’re the Space player.
Yeah, we need a Space player.
What makes you think I’m a Space player?
Because you just ARE.
You’re the Space player in everything.
Yeah, and Tod’s the Knight, and…
Umm…
Who’s the Time person?

Oh.
Shit.

Ummmmm….
Cannor?
Wait, why is Cannor not here?
I thought you were going to invite him.
I may have forgotten.
Like, I spent so much time looking for
Nick it may have slipped my mind.
Sorry.

Guys.
Well, we need to find Cannor!
Yeah!
No, wait!
We don’t know how much time we even have left.
Let’s work on getting the chain started.
Then we can patch up the plan.
Agreed?

Sure!
Okay,
Sounds good.

Umm…
Awesome.
Zaphod, you go to the roof and await my signal.
Okay…
Everyone else, find Cannor and tell him the plan.
I’ll keep in touch.

Re: Uprisingstuck

Two young men surround a computer unlike the one where six people were plotting earlier. One of them had his brows knitted in frustration while the other wondered aloud what was going on.

Spoiler:
What’s going on?
For the third time, I have no clue.
They’re freaking out over a game?
That cannot be right.

It can’t be good if the Homestucks are freaking out over a game.
Why?
Because in Homestuck a game ends the Earth, or something.
So if they’re holding secret meetings and fleeing the mansion, it’s probably a very bad sign.

Oh
So, is this code going to end the Earth?

I don’t know, I didn’t get that far into the comic.
Well what did they do in the comic to stop the Earth getting blown up?
They didn’t, the Earth still gets destroyed no matter what
If this is the game from the comic, then playing it will allow the players to avoid the apocalypse
By taking them off the face of the Earth

That doesn’t sound good.
Yes, well, it’s the only way to survive
IF this thing is real.
Which it shouldn’t be by any stretch of the word.

So what are we going to do?

What do you mean by that?
Well, the Homestucks are trying to avoid an apocalypse.
How do we figure out if they’re being serious?
And if they are, how do we get into their game?

I don’t quite know.
But it might help to ask someone who knows what they’re talking about.

Re: Uprisingstuck

A young man stands in his room. He saw the shitstorm erupt on the small internet community he was observing, and watched it slowly fade away into silence. It seemed just like every other fake Sburb game attempt out there, but a feeling in his gut told him that he should be worried. He was about to go out and look for his friends when a knock on his door distracted him. The young man figured that entertaining a guest wouldn’t be too bad and opened the door.

Spoiler:
Oh hey.
What’s up?

Well, there may be a situation, so we came to ask your advice.
Umm, sure.
What kind of advice?

The Homestucks are up in arms, and we want to know why.
They are?
Yeah, we think they got a game or something and now they’re acting shifty.
We can’t find them in their usual place, and the mansion has gone kind of quiet.

You mean like it does every other day?
Wait, you said they got a game?

We guess.
We can’t really confirm it yet.

Shit. I guess this means the rumors were true.
Rumors?
Someone unearthed a website for Crockercorp.
It was rather bare and unassuming, but it was the talk of the town a couple weeks ago.
And now some people have freaked out about finding a code on the site
And they’ve recently gone silent.
Most think it’s another prank on the fandom, but I don’t know.
If our Homestucks are agitated, that can’t be a good sign.

So you think this is real?
Maybe.
We won’t know until we run a copy of the game to test it.

Well, we might have one of those, if you’re willing to help us run it.

A copy of Sburb?
We think so.
Hmmm…
I mean, we don’t know how the game works
And if this is true, it’ll kind of suck to get stuck in the apocalypse.

Cannor?
Sorry, just doing some thinking.
I can help you, but we’re going to need to get a few more people together.
I know a couple of people who’ll be willing to go along
But you’re going to have to look for the sixth person.

Why six?
Even numbers are always preferable to odd numbers
The game seems to punish groups of less than four and odd numbers tend to cause the game to work against you
Well, more than it normally would.

Why six?
I dunno, it seems like a good number.
And if I’m right, then the Homestucks will probably try running a group of six.
So it’ll be a good idea for us to get a similar setup.

Another person…
I don’t know if there ARE any other peo-

We’ll get right on it.
Great. Let’s meet back here in five minutes, okay?
Deal.

Re: Uprisingstuck

Yeah

Well, kind of.
We had a meeting and realized we forgot to include you.
Want to try playing this game with us?

Depends, how many people do you have?
Umm.
There’s me,
Tod, Dawn, Zaphod, Rando and Darian
So that’s six, I guess.
Ah, I figured as much
Sorry, but I think joining your group would be too risky
Besides, I’ve got another plan laid out already.

Oh?
Yeah.
Don’t worry, I’m going to find a way out of the apocalypse

Going to make your own Sburb team?
Maaaaaybe
Okay, cool
I’ll get back and tell the rest.

Ah, actually
That feels like it’d be a bad idea.
If you could, can you just say you couldn’t find me?

Ummmmmm
Okay, sure man.

Thanks, SHG.
Good luck with your game.

Thanks.

The roof looks rather nice studded with the white machines. Things are finally beginning to happen, and this young man revels in the pressure to finish. He flies through the movements as Zaphod stares at the oncoming streak of light, which is annoyingly something the young man can’t see form his vantage point. He manages to get the totem and the pre-punched card in place when Zaphod begins to scream. Suddenly a crash echoes through the mansion, and a plume of smoke rises from the northeast corner of the roof. Zaphod continues to scream.

The young man stands frozen in the position he was in when he threw the egg onto the roof. The area around him begins to glow white, the glare getting brighter and brighter until the shape of man and machine blends together in the light.

And then suddenly it was gone. The man, the machines, and the roof, but not the mansion. It stands as it always had, even now with its topmost layer gone.

The tenants inside scramble. The time is growing nigh. The apocalypse is coming, and they must all be ready soon.

Re: Uprisingstuck

>> Act 2

The hills rolled off as far as the eye can see in all directions, the green surface brighter than any green imaginable. The mere sight of it is enough to blind the poor eyes of any lesser being, but this one is different. This young boy, or perhaps this man, stands atop a dislocated roof, positioned precisely at the apex of a hill, so that he can overlook the vista before him. Indeed, this young man does just that, scanning the neon scape before him, drawing his eyes over the bulbous mountains surrounding him and the imposing spires atop them. He took a step towards the structures, his knees nearly buckling underneath him, and then another step, and another, until he was at the edge of his slanted platform. The next step took him over onto the green, where he collapsed onto his knees, the ground almost bouncing beneath him. A cry escapes his lips, a sobbing laugh of agony, which travels through the area before him, attacking the walls of the mountains before him and passing through, absorbed by the fluffy crags. He is alone with his noise, for in the Land of Plush and Crystal, not even echoes can live.

Back on the roof, his computer beeps with a heartfelt message from his good friend and ally.
